“Betty - Smotherhood”
When I was going back through I archives I realised a much better way of handling this one:

“Shiny Monkeys - Let It Key”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
William and Scobell are fucking assholes
Furious and embittered by Scobell and William doing a thing without me, I attempted my own Monkey Shines sprite comic. With disastrous results.
William sez: Not in the same format because this was uploaded on NTI a few months after Shiny Monkeys closed its Monkeyshinesian doors. Whitington made it around the same time we made ours, and while we enjoyed it, we forgot about it until he uploaded it on NTI, seemingly further insulted by our mistake.
Just goes to show you: If you can’t stand the Monkey Shines Heat, you should stay out of the Monkey Shines Kitchen.

“A Matter of Life and.. Red..th bricks.. or something”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
The joke is that in Monkey Shines, you can press L to die.

“What a SONNY day to be in the dark”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
This Scobell one is an interesting morality play where no one comes out clean. I don’t know if that’s exactly true, but I just saw the film Blood Simple, and that sure is a good movie!

“Mouthing IN..side joke”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
As friends and colleagues Tasteful Nudity (that’s what we call ourselves. what do you mean there’s no record of that anywhere? that’s not an oversight. why didn’t you ask us what we called ourselves? jeez, you really dropped the ball here, readers. our other comic is called Tasteful Comics. what’d you think?) has many really stupid fucking injokes and bits. Usually they’re just a saying repeated by another saying, possibly even repeated by another.
In this case, Scobell had popularized usage of some words he called ‘oi words’ because you could apply the sound ‘oi’ where it said ‘er’ and make it sound funny. He apparently wrote out several words with the ‘er’ sound and made phrases of them. “That’s as absoid as poiple coitains,” he’d say, and someone else would say “I concoir, well obsoived” …There were other ones I can’t remember. Soon, in the nature of any good joke we repeat, we ran it into the ground in new and fascinating ways, including playing characters who didn’t understand the bit and would pronounce any word with oi, leading to the phrases “Yes indoid” and “No indoid.” I don’t remember when “What the hell? It makes no sense!” came into the picture but it came out whenever someone said “indoid”.
Anyway, I thought it was funny enough to do this. It’s not really worth understanding, though.

“Mouthing Off”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
My scathing indictment of the game where you can be killed by touching water but later spend an entire level underwater. What exactly was I trying to prove? We may never know, but here’s to hoping I never write a line like “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH LOGIC” ever again!

Shiny Monkeys
“Teeth-venture of Mouthy Proportions”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
This one was written by Scobell. This one utilizes all the floor textures I had harvested from the first level.
It should be noted that Shiny Monkeys only uses characters and graphics from the first level in the game (Spooked (set in haunted house)) and does not represent the whole game (with the other levels: Spaced Out (set in space), About The House (set in a house), In The Drink (set underwater), and In The Swing (set in the jungle)). We’ve since gone back and explored the other levels for their potential in Monkey Shines Races, but in 2008 we were really Monkey Shines novices- sticking only to what we knew: the first level.

Shiny Monkeys
“Night Fright devoid of Delight, aight”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
Some of NTI is surprising each other with new ways to modify the source material. Scobell took an amazing turn, not only utilizing the Monkey Shines logo itself, but Bonzo’s “wet” (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha) dream.
The joke of the comic is that Bonzo dies when he touches water. This water dream would be a nightmare, folks!

Shiny Monkeys
“the difference between life and skull”
!!!MONKEY SHINES WEEK!!!
This quasi-existential one is my feeble attempt to mimic Scobell’s monolithic success in the last one. I like the dumb phrase “hectic, brilliant world” though. I never use the word “brilliant” to describe something meaningfully unless it’s to sound like an idiot.
